Young British talent Arthur Fery tested ATP star Andrey Rublev in the first match of The Boodles tennis on Tuesday at Stoke Park. Rising star Fery, aged 21, challenged the World No.6 Rublev in an exciting start to the event, holding his own against the 16-time ATP title winner Rublev in the first set until he was broken at 4-4 to lose out 64. Rublev faced another concerted challenge in the second set, with the young Brit proving his potential by taking the set to the tie-break. Rublev ultimately proved his quality and experience in the end, taking the tie-break 8-6 but the Brit showed his promise which bodes well for the next couple of weeks on his home turf at Wimbledon.

The second match of the day on the pristine grass court of Stoke Park was a three-set thriller between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Dusan Lajovic. The match was evenly pitched throughout the first set with Tsitsipas pipping the Serb 6-4 to take the set. Lajovic equaled the score 64 in the second taking the match to a match tie-break. The two players, encouraged by the crowd in the blazing summer sunshine, continued to display some world-class shot-making with Tsitsipas emerging with the win 10-6.

Stefanos Tsitispas continued in winning form in the third match of the day, joined by his brother Petros in an entertaining late-evening doubles match. Taking on the Brit, Aussie combination of Marcus Willis and John-Patrick Smith, the Greek brothers teamed up well to steal the first set on the tie-break 76(6). Willis and Smith leveled the match 63 before the Tsitsipas team edged the victory 12-10 in the match tie-break.
