Simon and Verdasco complete The Boodles line up
In-form Frenchman Gilles Simon and Spanish superstar Fernando Verdasco will join the stellar eight-man roster of players at this year’s The Boodles grass court tournament, held 14th-18th June at Stoke Park. The Boodles Tournament Director and Founder Patricio Apey believes that this year’s event now boasts the best player field in The Boodles’ ten-year history.
Simon and Verdasco will join former US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro, David Nalbandian, David Ferrer, Gael Monfils, Sam Querrey and Viktor Troicki, all of whom will be completing their Wimbledon preparations in the stunning surroundings of Stoke Park, in Buckinghamshire. Verdasco will replace Marcos Baghdatis in the draw.
“I’m thrilled with the line-up of players we’ve got at The Boodles this year,” said Apey. “Gilles showed at Roland Garros why he’s such a dangerous player on any surface and Fernando is one of the most exciting players on the ATP Tour. It’s great to have them on board and they’re in some pretty special company at The Boodles this year. It’s wonderful that we can celebrate our tenth birthday with what I believe is the best player field we’ve ever had.”
The 2011 The Boodles final will be held on Saturday 18th June and is already a sell-out, with no general sale tickets left. In addition to the daily tournament matches, The Boodles will also host several special exhibition matches throughout the week for elite players wishing to gain grass court practice ahead of Wimbledon, which starts on 20th June.
